We now only have a few spaces left on our free 57º North Music Journalism course, so sign up asap if you're keen.
It takes the form of an intensive one-day session at The Lemon Tree, on Saturday 22nd of February. We'll cover everything from interview technique and networking to industry knowledge and writing skills.
Having previously run as a series of shorter sessions over a month, the availability of the course as a single-day sitting rather than evening classes should allow more people to take part, especially those who work office hours.
As the purpose of the course is to train up local music writers, those who complete the session will be invited to make contributions to 57º North and will get their own writer profile on the site, which is like an online CV for your writing.
57º North writers also get regular freebies, such as entry to gigs they cover and free music for review, so it's a great project to get involved with if you fancy doing some volunteering. The site runs on a not-for-profit basis and needs people from the music community to get involved. In return, we give you the training you need for a successful writing career.
Starting at 10am and running until 5pm, this free course is available to all and there are no age limits. All we ask is that you have an interest in Aberdeen's local music scene and are prepared to write a few articles for the site.
To request an application form, email stevie@shmu.org.uk
As well as the training, we also offer ongoing support for our team of writers as well as regular drop-in sessions for help with any articles you are working on.
Hurry though - last few places!
